Editorial policy
Eastern City Briefing aims to make urban history and culture clear, careful and worth spending time with. We favour specific explanations, useful context and honest limits over sweeping claims.
Accuracy and context
We check names, dates and factual claims against suitable sources before publication, and take care not to turn a plausible interpretation into a stated fact. When a subject is contested or evidence is incomplete, we say so. We do not invent quotations, scenes, people or research.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial choices are made for reader interest, not to secure a commercial arrangement. Sponsored or partner material is identified clearly wherever it appears; a partnership does not buy editorial approval or a favourable conclusion. Illustrations may be AI-generated and are labelled when used so readers can distinguish them from documentary images.
Corrections
If a reader spots an error, we review the point and correct material errors with care. Where a change affects the meaning of a published piece, we make the correction clear rather than silently leaving a misleading impression. Readers can send corrections through the Contact page.
A city is more than its skyline
Its character lives in the routes people take, the places they meet and the histories that remain in plain sight. We look closely at those details.
